Eating Healthy is Not Easy ...

I’ve been hearing about yogurt and how many people like it so much. So when Teriyaki Boy gave us these two yogurts for free I was excited to try it out.

I thought the taste was similar to ice cream but I was dead wrong. In fact me and my husband didn’t finish these. I realize now how hard it is to maintain a healthy lifestyle. If all we want to eat are delicious food then we’re going to be in big trouble someday. I don’t want to spend time in a hospital in the future even though they’re equipped with Howard Medical mobile computer carts because I want to be healthy. So I better start getting used to the more healthier yogurt instead of ice cream.

Knee Brace ...

When I was in elementary, I had a girl classmate wearing a leg support just like the acl knee brace for sports. I was never really close to her that is why I was not able to ask her why she had that injury. She would walk slowly by surely along the hall. She was always sitting at the front of the class because of her condition.

Years later, I was able to track her down on Facebook. It turned out she is doing quite well and had long dispatched her knee brace. She has been able to walk normally for years.

I am glad someone invented braces. This is helpful for people who are into sports and have suffered an injury or wear and tear. For people like my friend, this has helped them for their therapy.

The Drug, Topamax ...

Have you heard about the drug, Topamax? I read in the news recently that many people are filing for Topamax lawsuit. The victims were women who had taken the drug, Topamax, while pregnant. This drug is for treatment of epilepsy and migraine but there was no warning that pregnant women shouldn’t take it. Further studies showed that there was increased risk of having children born with oral defects if you had taken this drug. For me, that’s the worst nightmare a mother could have. It would be real hard for them to forgive themselves knowing that something they had taken while they were still pregnant caused this defect to their precious child. That’s why I understand why they are filing a lawsuit after what happened.

If you are one of those people affected you should hire an expert lawyer on thus matter.

Be Careful When Taking Medicines ...

Last year, while I was still pregnant with my youngest I didn’t stop working.  I admit I was busier than ever and would sometimes sleep late and then wake up early. I did not want to slow down because I love my work and also because I knew once my baby was born I would not be able to work for a month or two.  My workaholic tendency sometimes resulted to a splitting headache.  I wanted to take some medicine but I stopped myself thinking about the welfare of the baby.

For some people, however, they have no option but to take medicines. Pregnant moms with epilepsy and the dreaded migraine would find it hard to resist taking the drug just so they could lead a normal life. If they have taken Topamax while pregnant then they would have been at risk of delivering babies with cleft palate. It’s because this drug increases the likelihood of the baby having oral defects by 11%. If you’re one of the victims then don’t hesitate to file a Topamax lawsuit. Consult an attorney that is expert on this and you will get the compensation you deserve.

NC Health Insurance ...

All of us want to live healthy have a safe life. But we all know as well that this cannot always be the case. There are so many things in life that we cannot prevent from happening. Among these are illnesses and diseases, as well as accidents and other misfortunes. Because of these things, it is a smart idea to invest on a good insurance. Over the past years, NC health insurance services are among the best and improving insurances in the United States, as justified by the United Health Foundation. What is even better is that only 15.9 percent of the North Carolina population is uninsured which saw an improvement from the previous percentage of 17.2. If you are among the 15.9 percent who has not applied for insurance yet, here is a question: Don’t you want to live a safer life? There is nothing to lose when you get insurance for yourself. Besides, it will help you become more at ease knowing that if ever unfortunate things happen (which we do not like but cannot be prevented always), you have something to count on.

Residential Rehab ...

Do you know a person close to you who is suffering from drug or alcohol addiction? If so, then maybe you have seen how difficult it is to be in the said situation. Family members and friends are badly affected, seeing their loved ones suffer from these types of addiction. What can you do to help them?

A residential rehab can be suggested in order to help the person end his or her addiction. However, the whole process of convincing that person would be so much difficult. Remember that it is an addiction and ending it is really tough. But if you send him or her to some sessions of counseling and all, it would be easier for him to go for the rehab treatment.

In a rehab center, the patient is treated from the substance addiction while being around his or her peers. This kind of setting actually works in a positive way for the patient since he or she will not find the rehab center as a place of torture. At the end of the sessions, the patient will learn how to resist the temptations of such substances.

Who are Eligible as Members for MEDI ...

It’s January once again and it’s time to renew our Medicare plan. Here in the Philippines, what we have is MEDICard. My hubby has a plan provided by his company. Me and my son, Z, are his dependent and we have been enjoying the benefits for five years now. However, last December I gave birth to our second son. I asked my husband to enroll our newborn baby as soon as possible so he will also be covered. It turned out MEDICard will only cover babies that are three months and up or “Legitimate and or legally adopted children from 90 days old and up to 21 years old who are unmarried.” So that means our baby is not yet included.

If you are thinking of signing up for MEDICard, check first if you are eligible as member. Here’s what I got at the MEDICard Philippines website:

PRINCIPAL MEMBERS
Salaried personnel at least 18 years old and up to 60 years old employed by the company on a permanent basis.

Who are Eligible as Members?

DEPENDENT MEMBERS

Getting Ready for the Camp ...

My husband wants to lose some excess weight quickly. In a few days he will be off the songwriting camp with the best musical artists in the industry. He wants to look his best so he wants to look fit and healthy. I told him the solution to his problem of quick weight loss are natural diuretics. These will help him lose some extra water weight fast. In addition to that, I also told him to watch what he eats in the next few days.

I’m really happy and proud of my husband. He has been waiting for this big break for a long time. There were thousands of applicants all over the Philippines and he is one of the lucky 60 people to make it.  I’m sure he’ll do the best he can to make this dream of his come true.

Hip Replacement ...

Hip replacement surgery is very common in elder people. I know that these are the ones most affected by osteoporosis so when they suffer from a terrible fall their hips don’t recover and they have difficulty walking. In order to bring back mobility, these patients opt to have hip replacement surgery. The success rate of this kind of surgery is high but recovery doesn’t stop there. There is an intense rehabilitation that follows to bring back the mobility of the patients.

For patients who were fitted with a faulty depuy hip, the rate of success is quite low. This has prompted the makers of the artificial hip to recall 93,000 units. If you’re one of these people who have been implanted with these faulty hip then consult a depuy hip recall attorney to know your rights.

Sleep to Lose Weight? ...

Being a work-at-home mom, I believe in the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle even while working at home.  It’s actually harder for us because we don’t have to commute to the office so the threat of being overweight is there.  Although I am blessed with a good metabolism, I still feel that I am getting heavier each year.  It doesn’t help that I’m also pregnant with my second child.

That is why I was intrigued when I saw this article on losing weight more effectively by sleeping more.  A study was done where two groups of participants were placed under strict diet where they would receive the calories they need without gaining weight even without exercise.  One group then got 8.5 hours of sleep for 14 days while the other group got only 5.5 hours of sleep.  It was then found out that the group that got the most sleep lost a lot of fat while the other group lost only a fewer percentage of fat.  It was also found out that people with less sleep are more prone to hunger pangs thus more prone to eating more.

So for the work-at-home moms like me, I know working at home can be tiring, requiring more hours of work but remember that our health is our wealth so be sure to get enough sleep so you will be more productive and more healthy.
