There is no classes today. It’s the anniversary of the famous EDSA Revolution or People Power. This is the event that ousted a Filipino dictator. It is also because of this event that we already have two Presidents and one hero with the Aquino surname the latest of which is the current President of our country.
Where were you during the People Power? Me, I was just a five-year old girl living in the province. We were not affected because it is too far from Manila. Only my mom, who was working in Makati at that time, was there to witness it. She doesn’t come home often but during that time she went home and regalled us with stories about the People Power. The one thing that struck my innocent mind was the thousands of yellow confetti she described to us that she saw falling in the streets after the event. I was struggling to understand what was happening and what was the commotion all about. It was only years later that I understood what it finally was and the significance of the revolution.
