Our Stress-Free Schedule ...

I love that I have a flexible schedule.  I don’t have any deadlines to beat everyday anymore.  I need this flexibility in my schedule in order to make sure I can still take care of my family’s needs.

I have devised an informal schedule.  It works most of the time but sometimes it doesn’t but I’m satisfied with it.  It works well for me and my son and for my husband too.

My schedule goes like this.  I wake up early at about 5 am, early enough to be able to see my husband off to work.  Once he leaves out our door I immediately start doing my work.  Before, I procrastinate and check my favorite blogs and websites first but I have learned to stop that bad habit.  I needed to get a headstart on my work while my son is still sleeping.  By six in the morning I have to wake up my son and prepare him for school.  He’s out the door by 7:30 and I quickly resume working.

He would be at school until 10:30 am and I try to do as much work as possible during that period.  At some point I lose my momentum and concede that I have to relax so that’s when I browse my favorite websites.  This routine works better than checking out the websites first early in the morning because once I start working I then get bored reading these websites and go back straight to work to finish my unfinished tasks.

By the time my little one gets home I’m still not finished with my work.  I just take some time off to chat with him and ask him how his day went.  Then I tell him since he has been good at school he can play, watch TV, or do anything he wants until 12 noon.  I then resume back to working.

When lunch time is near I remind him to wind down because we’re about to eat.  It’s important to give him these reminders in advance so when the time comes that he has to put away his toys we won’t have to deal with tantrums.  When lunch is set I turn off the PC and he puts his toys away.  We then eat our lunch.

After lunch, we talk a bit and relax before we start our studying routine.  I help him with his assignments, review their lesson for the day, and also do some advance lessons.

By mid-afternoon we have our merienda and by 4pm we go out to meet his Daddy in the parking lot.

So that’s our simple schedule these days.  I know it will be completely overhauled when the baby comes but for now this works well and I love how stress-free our days mostly are.
