Searching for Fast Wireless Internet ...

We’re having some problems with our internet in our home.  Unlike in our apartment where we have uninterrupted service, here there are times that I can’t connect to the internet.  Since internet is important in our household we have started looking for the perfect replacement by reading some Internet reviews.

Hubby and I are using the internet at the same time so we really prefer wireless internet and not just any wireless internet but connection that has to be fast and at the same time reliable.  Yes, we do our work here but aside from that we also use this as our entertainment.  Hubby watches YouTube video all the time while I download a lot of movies.  In order to download I need the best internet there is.

During our research we have come across Clear 4G. I heard it’s fast and it’s affordable.  What’s more – we can use it at home and when we’re out in the city. Clear 4G provides users their own USB so they can still stay connected when they leave home.  It’s the first time I’ve heard about it and after reading its benefits my curiosity has definitely been peaked.

We’re giving our current provider one more month to fix our problem but after that we’re definitely switching.

A Trip to the Dentist ...

After going to salon today I decided to drop by the dentist to have Z’s teeth checked.  I wanted him to have his oral prophylaxis first because this was the first time he has seen this particular dentist and I wanted him to familiarize with her first.  When the dentist saw her teeth she immediately recommended to have his teeth filled so we can still save it.  I thought she was just referring to one tooth or at most two but little did I know that she filled four teeth.  Poor Z, he had no idea what teeth filling means but he had no choice but to sit still and follow the dentist.  To Z’s credit he was really very brave and didn’t cry.  After finishing the four teeth I thought Z’s ordeal was over but the dentist took out a needle and removed one of Z’s chipped front tooth.  I have given her my permission but it didn’t occur to me she could do it all in one sitting since it’s Z’s first time.  I have to give it to the dentist because she was really efficient in handling a squirming five year old.  Z was absolutely no match for this seasoned dentist.  She was so fast in whipping out her needle that Z had no time to react when she finally gave him anesthesia for the tooth extraction.  I heard Z say, “Ouch!” a couple of times but the dentist didn’t let go.  I think she gave him more than one injection to the consternation of my little boy.  Anyway, after the procedure we were both glad that it was over.  Z was so proud of himself and showed his teeth proudly to his Dad when he arrived.  His Dad was shocked at what Z went through but I assured him it’s all for the best.  We still need to visit the dentist for another extraction but I’ll wait a little while until Z forgets the pain before I bring it up to him again.

Oprah’s Sixth Toe ...

I’m a major fan of Oprah since way back and I thought I knew all the details about her but it’s only now that I find out that she has a sixth toe.  I didn’t believe it at first but since I found a picture I guess it’s all true.  Look at the photo below:

Now rumors are abound that Oprah is removing her extra toe.  I hope she’s making the right decision because people say having an extra toe is lucky

Toy Story 3 ...

Toy Story 3 opens today, June 17, at cinemas and since we’re having a movie marathon – not the kind where you watch movies all day long but meaning we’re watching all kiddie movies until the baby arrives – we’ll surely watch this one this weekend. I have seen the trailer and in Toy Story 3 Andy goes to college and so the toys were donated to a preschool (I think!). I don’t know what happened there (I still have to watch it remember) but maybe the kids are so mean that the toys have to escape. Well, we just have to watch to get the full details, don’t we.
Don’t wait too long because if you’re going to watch it at any SM Cinema you will have a chance to win 5 days and 4 nights trip to Hongkong Disneyland!  Promo is from June 17 to June 27.

First Day of School ...

Today is Z’s first day in Prep.  Unlike last year where we had a hard time leaving him it’s a breeze this time around.  There was no crying and no fuss.  I went with him inside the classroom and left him there smiling.  When I came back to fetch him after school he proudly reported that he didn’t cry.  I was so proud of him!  I’m glad he likes his school because we really thought long and hard which school to choose so seeing him happy in his new school made us sigh in relief.  I hope and pray this would go on until the end of the school year or better yet until he graduates. :)

Enrollment ...

Tomorrow is enrollment day for our little boy.  I know we’re a little late but all the moving and the expenses renovating our home has made a dent in our savings.  This is a new school for Z as we moved to a new area.  We were choosing between two schools and now we have finally made our decision.  I hope and pray we chose the right one.  So early tomorrow morning we are going to the school to pay the tuition and get the books.  There’s no written exam this time for Z only an interview.  Unlike last year where I was nervous he would be too shy to answer the questions now I know that he’ll answer all the questions they ask him.  After that we’ll again look for a mechanic for our car.  So it would still be a busy day for us.

Resignation Letter ...

I submitted my resignation letter today.  After two years of working I am finally calling it quits.  I remember two years ago I was so ecstatic to land a homebased job.  When I started working I cried many many tears before finally becoming comfortable with my job as a transcriber.  It has helped us in our finances when we needed it but it also took a lot of time away from my son. Yes, having a homebased job is as tough as going to the office to work.  You’re physically here with your family but mentally and emotionally you’re absent because you have to concentrate on your work.

Now that I’m having our second child I have decided that it’s time to move on.  It doesn’t mean that I’m ungrateful for my job but I think I have reached the point where I have to move on.  Back then I accepted this job because I had no experience in working online but two years later I’m now a different person.  Yes,  I have acquired some knowledge that I could use in a new online job but this one is a lot flexible in terms of schedule.  I’m also keeping my fingers crossed that this will pay more compared to my previous one.

So right now I’m enjoying time with my son.  I owe it to him after being “absent” for two years.  I want us to spend quality and quantity time together before his new sibling arrives.  I want to reassure him that I love him even though we’re having a new addition in our family.  I’m also working hard as ever but this time around I can choose to stop when I want to and I’m doing just that.  Leaving my job was hard but now that I finally did it it’s such a relief for me.  I feel that I made the right choice.

Tuition Fee Where Are You? ...

We are indeed taking our sweet time in enrolling Z.  Before by this time we already had his tuition ready but now all the extra expenses we had in moving have taken it’s toll on our pockets and we are still waiting for some money to arrive so we can pay his tuition.  If last year we paid his tuition in full, this year we’re only paying half of it.  I’m not comfortable paying anything in installments.  I always want to pay everything in full so this is really making me sad.  The good news is we’re not paying that big of an interest for not paying the tuition in full so I guess it’s okay.

Pakbet or Pinakbet Recipe ...

I remember Pakbet or Pinakbet from my childhood days.  I was not a fan of vegetables when I was younger but for some reason I couldn’t resist this mishmash of different vegetables made yummy with bagoong.  I remember my grandma told me that the true Pakbet doesn’t have squash but squash is our favorite vegetable so of course we have to put it.

Ingredients:

1/4 k pork

2 pcs eggplants

1/4 squash

1 bundle okra

1 bundle string beans

onion, garlic, tomatoes

1 piece ampalaya

2 tablespoon bagoong alamang

Heat oil in a cooking pan and saute onion, garlic, and tomatoes.  Add pork and cook until half cooked.  Put the bagoong and cook until it is dark red.  Add the vegetables that are hard to cook like the squash and string beans and stir in bagoong so it will absorb the flavor.  Pour the water and let it boil.  Before the squash and string beans are cooked pour in the rest of the vegetables.  Let boil then add salt to taste.  Do not overcook the vegetables.

Ended One Chapter of My Life ...

I finally did it.  I ended one chapter of my life.  Today I sent my resignation letter to the transcription company I was working for for the last two years.  It has been a long journey full of joys as well as tears as life as a work-at-home mom is not an easy ride.  For two years I worked hard as I try to beat deadlines and typed more words than I have ever typed in my entire life.  My job has helped us financially for the past two years but now that I’m having a second child I have decided that it would be impossible for me to do my job and give my kids the attention that they deserved.  Still, I’m very thankful for the company that hired me and trusted me when I was still inexperienced in homebased jobs and now, although I still have a lot to learn I’m confident that I can move forward and find work that would suit my schedule better.  It’s a sad farewell but I feel I have reached the end of the road for this chapter in my life.
